What is the Technical Service Provider (TSP) Training Initiative?
The TSP Training Initiative currently subsidizes training costs and manages this web site. The Initiative is administered by the UMN Water Resources Center and funded by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture with Clean Water Legacy funds. The program runs from January 2007 through June of 2009.
The primary goal of the Initiative was to establish a certification-based TSP training system to expand Minnesota’s capacity to meet increasing demands for landowner technical assistance in implementing conservation practices to restore and prevent impaired waters. Another goal was to establish a long-term plan for making training available after the contract ends. This involves working with various state agencies and interests that currently provide and receive conservation training.
Regional Activities
The Minnesota program is delivered in cooperation with the regional Conservation Training program which is part of the CSREES Great Lakes Regional Water Quality Program. Staff from the regional office in Wisconsin coordinate the sharing of curriculum and other training ideas across the six states. The regional web site provides a central place for listing courses and managing registration.
